Here I try to create a felted lamp for my kitchen! The idea came on a rainy winter day in Berlin, fortunatelly without work, it was a national German holiday! I woke up and I found an empty plastic bottle on the kitchen table! I was needing also a lamp in my kitchen…
I cut it in the middle, I throw the upper part and I keep the lower part. I tear it in four pieces which reach the basis of the bottle (something between a ventilator and a cross, if you can imagine!). Then I start to wrap it with red wool in fleece. When the whole bottle is wrapped, I create on its surface some spiders patterning in black again with merino wool in fleece. The spiders patterning is attached with the needle felting technique on the red wool surface. This part of the process you see on the photos above! The whole project is stabilised and bound together with the wet felting technique!
And now the result…
And indeed hanging in my kitchen!:-)
