nuno felted scarf -Aegean-

Playthings, the waters
In their shadowy flow
Speak with their kisses about the dawn
That begins
Horizoning —

And the pigeons in their cave
Rustle their wings
Blue awakening in the source
Of day
Sun —

The northwest wind bestows the sail
To the sea
The hair’s caress
In the insouciance of its dream
Dew – cool —

Waves in the light
Revive the eyes
Where life sails towards
The recognition
Life —

~ Aegean, Odysseus Elytis

This nuno-felted scarf consists of chiffon silk (100%) in light blue colour and extra-fine (18 mic) merino wool from Australia and New Zealand in a punch of colours; light blue, blue, turquoise, deep red, red, orange, yellow, mustard yellow and black colours! Additionally a large quantity of extra fine mulberry silk threads in blonde yellow are used in order to offer a shiny effect which adopts different hues depending on the natural light. The light blue chiffon silk is used as a basis for the scarf and the wool is applied on the top in order to create the patterning.

The scarf is created with the wet felting technique. The distinction between this nuno-felted scarf and a simple felted item is that it contains also a different material except from wool, i.e. silk. It measures approximately 150 cm (59.1in) length and 37 cm (14.6in) width.

The combination of wool in thin layers and silk gives a very light and airy; sometimes even sheer fabric!
